Raise your head, for love is passing by

Raise your head, for love is passing by

Some times we feel like we are walking through the valley of the shadow of death. Tradegy hits, and we feel small, vulnerable and insignificant. Is there light at the end of the tunnel, or are we really just in a cave?

In the last couple of weeks, I have been a witness to tremendous tradegy and sorrow in my close circle of friends. And when the seemingly meaningless things happen, I have no need or desire to see them as anything but meaningless.

I believe in a God who is unchanging. I believe in a God who is above our circumstances. I believe in a God that is almighty.

But I also believe in a God who is close. I believe in a God who weeps alongside those who are in sorrow.

I believe in a God who sees every saved soul as an eternal treasure. I believe in a God who has saved a spot for everyone who wants one. I believe in a God so full of mercy and compassion that he has even saved a spot for me.

And ultimately, I believe in a God that paid the ulitmate price to save me that spot.

In these last days when I have found it difficult to really take to heart the love of God in my own life, I have found comfort and truth in this hymn, Come to Jesus, written by Chris Rice.

Here is a beautiful version recorded by the Jason Lovins band. And it makes me want to do as the songwriter says: "Raise your head, for love is passing by".
